Karen Stacks has been the Director of Choral Studies and Theatre Director at Legacy High School in Broomfield, CO since 2001. She currently directs 4 choirs, teaches the Theatre 1 class, directs all of the theatrical productions and sponsors the Thespian troupe. The choirs at Legacy include: Legacy Chorale, Advanced Women’s, Concert Choir (Men's/Women's combined), and Twilight (women’s vocal jazz). Since beginning at Legacy, the choirs under her direction have consistently received “I” ratings at the CHSAA Large Group Festival, CHSAA Vocal Jazz Festival, and the UNC Jazz Festival in addition to having multiple ensembles selected to perform at the Colorado Music Educator's Conference. Her ensembles have performed in New York at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Apollo Theatre, Staten Island College Freedom Festival, the Disney Jazz Festival, and the Winter Park Music Festival. She has been guest clinician for both the Adams 12 and Adams 50 Middle School Honor Choirs in addition to judging multiple CHSAA Large Group Festivals. Mrs. Stacks is the school’s Thespian Troupe sponsor and Director/Producer of all of the theatrcal productions. Consistently, these shows are performed to sold out crowds each year. Professionally, Mrs. Stacks has served on the CHSAA Music committee and has also served as Membership Chair for the Colorado ACDA. Mrs. Stacks holds a Master of Music degree with choral studies under such nationally known conductors as Dr. Milburn Price and Dr. John Dickson. She also holds Music Education degrees from Southwest Baptist University and Missouri State University and has her Theatre Education Endorsement.
