Ms. Hammerly was a sign language interpreter for 12 years before going back to school to obtain a Master's degree in Deaf Education. During that time, 2 years were spent interpreting in Douglas County, and she then transferred to Thornton HS. She then joined the Deaf Education team at Legacy HS in 2007. In 2008, she graduated with her first Master's degree from University of Northern Colorado in Deaf Education and continued teaching at Legacy. She then graduated, from UNC again, in 2016 with her second Master's degree in Teaching American Sign Language. American Sign Language has now been observed as a world language credit for the past 2 years at Legacy HS. This year, Ms. Hammerly will be teaching ASL I, II and III.
